Community Notice 2 – COVID 19

Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation are pleased to advise we have secured some funding and support from Department of Communities to assist Wajarri Yamaji People confined in remote communities. Please note this is different to the ‘return to country’ assistance being managed through other entities.

This assistance is being managed in two stages as follows,

  1.  access immediate relief of food, hygiene and medical supplies next week; and
  2. develop a sustainable plan for ensuring ongoing remote communities’ access to these items and other medical, community and cultural support throughout the COVID 19 period.

The first funding package (phase one) has been provided to assist Wajarri Yamaji people, who have been confined or ‘locked in’ to Remote Aboriginal Communities without any other way of obtaining essential supplies, to obtain emergency supplies.

We have been in contact with some affected communities and individuals, we also understand there will be others. If you have been affected or are about to be affected by any movement restrictions, please contact the Wajarri Community Office for support, on 9997 3444, during office hours, alternatively you can contact us through the Wajarri Community Office website

If your need is urgent, you can also contact office staff outside office hours on 0498 550 477.

These are trying times, WYAC will continue to do our best to support the community, working together.

Yours sincerely
