COVID Office Policy Update

Have you visited the Perth, Peel or Southwest regions in the last 10 days?

Due to the evolving COVID situation, if you have recently returned to Geraldton from any of these regions, we kindly ask that you do not enter the Wajarri Community Office.

We are doing this to ensure that we can keep our staff as safe as possible and are able to continue to provide a full range of services to our members.

We will still be able to help you with your queries, either call us on 9997 3444 from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, or email members@wajarri.com.au.

You can access program information and application forms from our website www.wajarri.com.au/programs.

If you become aware that you have visited a COVID hotspot, you need to follow the WA Department of Health directive to either (depending on the site you visited):

  • Get tested immediately and isolate until you receive a negative result, unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health; or
  • Monitor for symptoms unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health. If symptoms develop, get tested and isolate.

The WA Government provides an up-to-date list of all COVID Hotspots at COVID-19 Coronavirus: locations visited by confirmed cases (www.wa.gov.au)

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

The following symptoms are considered mild:

  • mild upper respiratory tract symptoms, such as a congested or runny nose, sneezing, or a scratchy or sore throat or cough
  • new aches and pains, or lethargy or weakness without shortness of breath
  • mild headache or mild fever that responds to treatment
  • loss of smell or taste
  • loss of appetite and/or nausea
  • occasional vomiting or diarrhoea
  • no symptoms at all

The following symptoms are considered moderate:

  • shortness of breath while walking around, such as noticeably having to breathe more heavily while walking around the house
  • persistent fever above 38oC and not responding to treatment
  • persistent worsening cough, regularly producing mucus
  • struggling to get out of bed and feeling dizzy or weak

If you do need to get a COVID test, you can do this at the Geraldton Regional Hospital 51 Shenton Street, Geraldton Ph: 9956 2222.

The best defence against COVID is to be vaccinated and we encourage all our members to keep themselves, their families and community safe by getting triple vaccinated as soon as possible.

And most importantly – stay safe and well! Warm regards, the Wajarri Community Office Team
