Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation is the registered native title body corporate which holds and manages the native title rights and interests on behalf of the Wajarri Yamaji people. Wajarri land area is significant with extraordinary geographic and environmental diversity.

Located in the Murchison, Gascoyne and Mid-West regions of Western Australia, the Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an experienced, highly driven CEO to lead and develop the commercial, strategic and community direction of the Corporation.

The Role:

Working directly with key stakeholders, government and a board of directors, the CEO will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic plan and for growing and developing the Corporations investment in its people. Additionally, it is expected the CEO will drive expansion of business interests with a vision to create a sustainable business model, which must include the engagement and empowerment of the Wajarri Yamaji people by investing in the community’s future.


Candidates with the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply;

  • Proven ability in delivering commercial success through the creation, implementation and maintaining of strategic initiatives
  • Track record of success in identifying and pursuing feasible business opportunities that create sustainable income streams
  • Understanding of grants and funding, diversifying and enhancing commercial income streams in collaboration with the board and advisors
  • Understanding of Native Title and the new Heritage Act
  • Success in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with a board, staff and a wide variety of stakeholders, government and commercial partners
  • A strong background in developing business marketing strategies that would promote this organisation in the region and beyond
  • Outstanding understanding of Aboriginal Corporations, cultural sensitivity and community relations.
  • Ideally, the successful candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a CEO or senior leadership role
